Robyn Derwin
I am a clinical psychologist with a passion for both growth and healing. Therapy can be a scary, different, and unnerving experience yet a brave and worthwhile one at the same time. As a clinical psychologist, it is my privilege to take you along your own journey of growth by providing you with a safe, empathic, and non-judgmental space to express yourself, process various life experiences and encourage healing and personal progress.
Our own life experiences shape who we are as a person, how we think, how we behave, how we perceive, understand, and view the world, how we express ourselves, and how we respond to different situations. Therapy allows you the safe space to discover yourself more, while learning your own strengths and weaknesses, empowering yourself to be your true self. Truly expressing oneself in therapy can make oneself feel vulnerable but as Sigmund Freud has said “out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength”.
Therapeutic Approach
In therapy, I take an integrative approach, aligning the therapeutic approach to each individual person. I am the type of the therapist who will walk through this journey with you step by step but also challenge you to see different perspectives, to have new experiences, and become more aware of your own behaviours. I have a particular interest in working with individuals, both adolescents and adults. My experience and interests are focused towards anxiety and mood disorders, substance use, stress management, adjustment disorders, loss and bereavement, and personal growth.
We are all capable of change and growth, we just need to know where to begin and therapy can be that brave first step for you. Allow me to take that step with you.
